Wow - It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of our fourth week working remotely.
There have been some blips along the way, but for the most part our department hasn’t skipped a beat. That is amazing. I just wanted to thank you all for your focus and dedication. I know there have been server and slag issues. Paul is starting next week and maybe that will get addressed. Try and keep your streaming and use of wifi on other devices to a minimum while you are working is the best advice I can give (and patience). That being said I know if someone else in your house is working from home, it is not always possible. We are all going to learn in the next couple of days a whole new virtual (paperless) workflow that will continue when we get back in the office. It will be more efficient once it is in place. I personally would have launched this after April but I guess there is no time like the present.
As you all know April is our busiest month of the year (I just realized it is not even half over). 5 journals (1 almost 700 pages), an ePub, and a 150 page supplemental for the proceedings that is not only online, but gets printed locally. Not the best time to be thrown into a remote workflow. This coming week will be our busiest. So please bear with Bill and me.
I am very grateful for all of you and your hard work. I believe, beyond any doubt, that prepress is the heartbeat of AEA Publications. I hope you take some time for yourself this weekend. Whatever you celebrate - Passover, Easter, Spring - or just that its the weekend - just Enjoy! and Breathe.
Stay healthy. Thanks again
Cathy
p.s. I really am enjoying getting to know you all a little better through the QOD.
