I would like to touch base on a few things.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Bill and I have been consumed with P&P (there is a light at the end of the tunnel - still far off - but a light none the less). I really appreciate everyone stepping up. Shout out to Bill for juggling all the conversions and still being productive. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I realize this has meant a more pressured workload for the rest of you. I would like to stress the importance of trying to be more careful while getting the work done in a timely manner.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">After my accident a few weeks ago, it was pointed out to me that sometimes our day to day activities become “rote”. So this is just a gentle reminder to be more careful. I am proud of the work that comes out of this department, and am grateful for each of you.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">That being said, I have noticed some “sloppy” mistakes that have been getting through. Manuscripts that the script has been run on the entire document and not just the story. This changes the fonts in the running heads. I am seeing a lot of revisions to graphics at green dot. The graphic doesn’t match what the author supplied. So, please pay closer attention to the graphic when creating and when proofreading. One of the main things I am coming across is using "Title Case" versus “Sentence case” and varying point sizes. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">It is important to be consistent, especially with new staff for the AEJ and AER. Before our next meeting, I will reconfirm with Michelle and Steve style issues. I know this has always been an issue and sometimes it seems like they give you a firm answer one day and change it the next. I am committed to putting together firm style information for all journals in a handout. Remember when in doubt, match the PDF. I am going to embroider that on a pillow. I would rather take a little more time on first pass of these than have to do extra rounds of corrections. I know when I see folders stacking up on my desk I tend to make more mistakes because I am hurrying.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I realize we all need to take a break and get up from our computers. I do encourage that. I take a lap around the hallways a couple times a day. However, I have noticed (and it has been brought to my attention from other departments) that sometimes there are “long" periods of chatting going on. You are entitled to breaks and a few minutes catching up is fine, but please be considerate to those around you who are working. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Once pandp is out of here, I hope to do something fun as a team. My door is always open if you have any questions or concerns. The next 6 Fridays I will be taking off for St. Gabes Fish Frys.
